집합적 감각을 위한 도시의 우산
도시적 맥락: 유연한 집합성
반복적으로 접혀진 다면체 오리가미는 고정된 조형이 아니라, 사람들이 모이며 남긴 힘과 시선, 그리고 도시의 응축된 움직임이 물질로 전환된 흔적이다. 공유된 지붕 아래에서 개인의 경험은 자연스럽게 집합적 경험으로 확장되고, 흩어졌던 순간들은 하나의 동시적 장면으로 결속된다. 특정 프로그램에 종속되지 않은 열린 구조는 머무름과 통과, 만남과 관람을 동시에 수용하며, 도시 일상 속에서 명멸(明滅)하는 사건들의 무대를 제공한다.
결정화된 자연
구조체는 꽃잎처럼 펼쳐진 기하학적 모듈의 연속으로 구성된다. 각 모듈은 독립적인 단위로 존재하면서도, 중심으로 갈수록 서로 맞물리며 하나의 연속적인 구조를 형성한다. 꽃의 개화(開花)를 연상시키는 형상은 자연의 감성적 모방이 아닌, 오리가미의 원리를 구조적 시스템으로 치환한 결과이다. 중심에서 외곽으로 확장되는 방사형 구성은 구조적 안정성과 공간적 중심성을 동시에 확보하며, 시선을 위로 들어 올린다. 날카로운 인공적 엣지는 주변 자연과 분명한 대비를 이루며, 숲 속에 내려앉은 거대한 ‘빛의 결정체’로서의 정체성을 드러낸다.
빛의 캔버스
디지털 프로젝션이 가능한 반투명 외피는 정보를 담는 표면을 넘어, 빛과 패턴을 증폭시키는 능동적인 매개체로 작동한다. 조명은 구조적 리듬을 따라 투과되고 반사되며, 외피를 고정된 표면이 아닌 변화하는 이미지의 층위로 전환한다. 이를 통해 내부와 외부, 구조와 미디어 사이의 경계는 흐려지고, 공간은 감각을 매개하는 인터페이스로 확장된다.
반사와 부유(浮遊)
비에 젖은 바닥은 이 건축을 완성하는 결정적 장치이다. 대지에 단단히 뿌리내린 구조물은 젖은 지면 위에 투영되어 중력으로부터 해방된 듯한 시각적 부유의 상태를 획득한다. 비가 내리는 광장에서 우산을 든 사람들 위로, 건축은 더욱 선명한 존재로 떠오른다. 수많은 우산이 모여 하나의 풍경을 이루듯, 이 공간은 도시의 흩어진 움직임을 포용하며 공동의 경험을 가시화한다.

Luminous Origami
An Urban Umbrella for Collective Senses
Urban Context: Flexible Collectivity
The repeatedly folded polyhedral origami is not a static object, but a materialized trace of accumulated forces, gazes, and the condensed movements of the city. Beneath a shared canopy, individual experiences naturally expand into collective ones, while dispersed moments converge into a single, simultaneous scene. Unbound by a fixed program, the open structure accommodates staying and passing, encounter and observation alike, offering a stage for events that intermittently flicker within the routines of urban life.
Crystallized Nature
The structure consists of a continuous sequence of geometric modules that unfold like petals. While each module exists as an independent unit, they interlock toward the center to form a coherent structural whole. The flower-like configuration does not emerge from a sentimental imitation of nature, but from the translation of origami’s folding principles into a structural system. Expanding radially from the center, the configuration secures both structural stability and spatial centrality, while guiding the gaze upward. Sharp, artificial edges stand in deliberate contrast to the surrounding landscape, asserting the identity of a monumental “crystal of light” resting within the forest.
A Canvas of Light
The semi-translucent envelope, capable of digital projection, operates beyond a surface that merely contains information; it functions as an active medium that amplifies light and pattern. Illumination penetrates and reflects along the structural rhythm, transforming the skin from a fixed surface into a shifting layer of imagery. Through this process, the boundaries between interior and exterior, structure and media are dissolved, allowing the space to expand into a sensory interface.
Reflection and Levitation
The rain-soaked ground becomes a decisive apparatus that completes the architecture. Firmly rooted in the site, the structure is projected onto the wet surface, acquiring a visual state of suspension—as if momentarily released from gravity. In the rain-filled plaza, as people move beneath with umbrellas in hand, the architecture emerges with heightened clarity. Just as countless umbrellas gather to form a single landscape, this space embraces the city’s dispersed movements and renders a shared experience visible.
