역삼 업무·근린생활시설: 교류와 몰입 사이
프로젝트는 도시 맥락 안에서 작동하는 입면의 질서를 구축한다. 역삼동의 고밀도 오피스와 다세대 주거가 교차하는 조건 속에서, 건축은 과잉된 표현 대신 절제된 재료와 비례로 주변과의 연속성을 구현한다. 아이보리 톤의 벽돌은 배경으로 물러나며, 빛과 시간에 의해서만 존재감을 드러낸다.
1층은 경계가 아닌 매개로서 작동한다. 전면의 투명한 개방성은 내부 프로그램을 가로와 연결시키고, 보행의 흐름과 상업 활동을 자연스럽게 내부로 흡수하며 건축을 독립된 객체가 아닌 도시 조직의 유기적인 연장선 위에 올려놓는다. 상층부로 갈수록 창의 높이는 점차 낮아지고, 시선은 선택적으로 차단된다. 이로써 저층의 개방성과 상층의 몰입은 위계로 조직된다.
입면은 플레미시 본드(Flemish bond) 방식을 통해 견고한 수평적 리듬을 구축하면서도, 일부 마구리 벽돌의 돌출을 통해 입체적인 깊이감을 획득한다. 별도의 장식 없이 단일 재료의 반복과 변주만으로 건물의 스케일을 분절하고 촉각적 밀도를 형성하며, 이는 단순한 시각적 이미지를 넘어 신체적 인지로 경험되는 입면을 완성한다. 조명은 외부 부착물이 아닌 입면의 일부로 치환된다. 벽돌과 동일한 치수를 갖는 조명 모듈은 일부 마구리 벽돌의 자리를 대체하고, 여기서 뿜어져 나오는 빛은 재료의 물성이 확장된 결과물로서 건축의 서사를 완성한다.

Mixed Use in Yeoksam: Between Interaction and Immersion
The project establishes a façade order that operates within the urban field. At the intersection of dense offices and multi-family housing in Yeoksam-dong, it rejects formal excess, relying instead on proportion and restraint to sustain continuity. Ivory-toned brick recedes, its presence emerging only through light and time.
At ground level, the building acts not as a boundary, but as a mediator. Transparency draws the street inward, absorbing pedestrian flow and commercial activity, positioning the architecture as an extension of the urban fabric rather than an autonomous object. Above, openings compress and views become selective, producing a vertical gradient from openness to immersion.
A Flemish bond sets a measured horizontal rhythm, while the subtle projection of header bricks introduces depth. Without applied ornament, repetition and variation articulate scale and generate tactile density—an elevation perceived as much by the body as by the eye. Lighting is embedded, not attached: brick-sized modules replace select headers, emitting light that extends the material itself and completes the architectural narrative.
